PROTECT YOUR RIFLE AND SHOTGUNS

by Sandy Lindsey

As a shooter who just loves sporting clays, but at the same time wanted a shotgun case that would protect her weapon against the harsh marine environment when she wished to carry a shotgun, or a rifle, along when boating far from the nearest land, I found myself in a dilemma as to what type of case to get. I wanted something durable, water-resistent, economical, and preferably cool looking. After a bit of research I decided on the Kolpin Gun Boot IV. The Gun Boot features an extremely strong HD poytheleyne shell, wiht a plush pile lining that provides excellent gun protection in case of impact. The case itself is very unlike a traditional piano-hinged hard-sided case as it opens into two sections, one of which covers the barrel and the other the stock. This type of joining provides excellent water-resistance.

In fact, when my Gun Boot IV was accidentally dropped overboard, by a boating guest who is not welcome on board my boat again, it floated long enough for me to jump in and rescue my Mossberg Mariner 590 unharmed. Another feature of this unique closure system is that there are no hinges which can be easily knocked out by a thief in an airline baggage department who wishes to circumvent your luggage lock. The case is molded to accept a heaby duty padlock, either the Kolpin 6500 or one of your choosing, providing virtually impenetrable protection. Improvements on the popular Gun Boot III featured in the Gun Boot IV include an expanded inner compartment which can now accommodate rifles with 50mm scopes, slings, and right or left handed bolt actions; a streamlined exterior for easy storage in tight places (a true asset on a boat); and molded feet which allow it to stand up like a traditional rectangular gun case. There is an optional ATV bracket, and I never take my Gun Boot out without some spare shells attached ready-at-hand to my rifle or shotgun stock via an elsatic Kolpin Buttstock Shell Carrier.
